The Commission on Road Safety under the Cabinet of Ministers, at the suggestion of the Baku Transport Agency, approved the organization of special traffic lanes on 10 more streets and avenues. By the decision of the commission, bus lanes will be organized on M.K. Ataturk, G. Garayev, Ganja, M. Huseynov, as well as on the streets of A.M. Sharifzadeh, M. Khadi, R. Behbudov, A. Rajabli, F. Kh. Khoysky and M. Hasanov.

The selected streets and avenues are considered the capital's public transport corridors in terms of bus traffic. Hundreds of thousands of public transport users use these roads every day.

The main purpose of the lanes is to ensure the free movement of buses on regular and high-speed lines, which is especially important in the current pandemic. Dedicated bus lanes are also needed to provide passenger comfort, encourage public transport, and increase confidence in public transport in the aftermath of the pandemic.

The arrangement of the lanes will increase the average bus speed, which will reduce the travel time of passengers. The smooth movement of buses without getting stuck in the lane will allow better control of the interval. This will significantly reduce the number of long-term bus passengers at bus stops. This factor is also an important factor in the current pandemic.

First, the strip was organized on M. Useinov Avenue. The horizontal scribe lines have already been drawn. The corresponding road signs will be installed in the coming days.

Note that there are 6 regular routes connecting the city center with the southern residential area of the capital. In the evening rush hours, due to traffic congestion in the direction of the Azneft circle, bus traffic is delayed by 15-20 minutes, and sometimes even longer. As a result, there are congestions of passengers on Neftchilar Avenue, as well as at stops near the 28 May metro station.

When organizing a lane, the interval between buses will stabilize during rush hours, and if there is a restriction on the road, the average speed will increase from 6 km / h to 25 km / h, and the travel time of passengers will decrease from 20 to 4 minutes.

It should be noted that, according to the law on road traffic, only ordinary buses and ambulances passing along this street can move along the special lane. Other cars are not allowed in the lane. Violation of these rules entails administrative responsibility and a fine of 40 manats.
