Authoritative international journal publishes an article on the activities of the Agency

The next issue of the World of Public Transport magazine of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) published an article on the activities of the Baku Transport Agency in the direction of urban transport development. The article provides information about upcoming work for the further improvement of the transport infrastructure and operation of Baku city’s urban transport, including regulation of public transport, route network optimization, and the formation of a special management model in the field of transport.

Noting that 300 comfortable, environmentally friendly IVECO buses working on compressed natural gas (LNG) are currently used in passenger transportation, the author also touched upon measures taken to upgrade the bus fleet. In this regard, he appreciated the acquisition of 300 new generation BMC buses which meet Euro 6 standards. The article states that starting 2022 only (hybrid) buses running on compressed natural gas (LNG) and electricity are planned to be brought to Baku for use in public transport.

Note for reference that the Baku Transport Agency joined the International Association of Public Transport, which unites the structures responsible for transport in more than 200 cities around the world in 2018. The association was established on August 17, 1885. Headquartered in Brussels, this organization brings together 14 regional branches and focal points. The organization has 1,400 members from 96 countries. The main focus of its activities is the promotion of public transport, best practices in this area, coordinating transportation professionals around the world, organizing courses, trainings and seminars, as well as international forums and conferences. The association is considered an important platform for meetings between professionals in the field of public transport to discuss the prospects and problems of its development, and exchange best practices.
